A sea anemone rediscovered in Sagami Bay for the first time in about 100 years

The sea anemone “Yosai sea anemone Capnea japonica (Carlgren, 1940)”, has not been collected since it was discovered in 1914. After about 100 years, Dr. Kensuke Yanagi, Senior Researcher at the Coastal Branch of Natural History Museum and Institute, Chiba, and Dr. Takato Izumi, Research Fellow at Ryukyu University, reported the rediscovery of this species off the coast of Misaki in Sagami Bay during the 2nd JAMBIO Coastal Organism Joint Survey.
