Tara JAMBIO Blue Carbon Project Shimoda Survey
As part of the Blue Carbon Project targeting seaweed beds across Japan, the Shimoda site survey was performed in April. We conducted underwater surveys in the seaweed beds, collected water and mud samples from the research vessel, and evaluated from various perspectives the process by which seaweed sequesters carbon. On the final day, an event was held for the general public, where participants could understand the photosynthesis of seaweed and its role in nurturing biodiversity.
